Full-Time Winter Sales Manager

Job Description
Mountain to Sound Outfitters is a successful,
local snow sports and paddle store in
West Seattle. We supply quality service, products, and community to the Northwest and beyond.

If you have experience in retail sales, love snow sports, the Puget Sound, the Cascades and engaging with customers on a regular basis, this is the position for you!

Sales Management

  • Ensure that customers have a fun and memorable shopping experience by providing them with product knowledge, options, and accessories

  • Hire, train and mentor Retail Sales Associates in sales strategies, with particular focus on product knowledge and customer experience

  • Operate in a Sales Lead capacity while working the sales floor

  • Create, monitor, and execute winter sales training programs for incoming staff as well as continuing education programs for existing staff

  • Maintain constant communication with management and staff to ensure proper operations of the sales department

  • Create and utilize key sales tools and metrics to measure team results and hold the team accountable to established goals and objectives

  • Monitor customer trends and requests and work with Buyer to fill gaps in inventory, process special orders, and bring in new products


Rental Management

  • Hire, train and mentor rental staff

  • Ensure that rental staff are fully trained in fitting and adjusting rental and demo equipment to suit the needs of customers

  • Ensure that rental staff can advise on appropriate rental equipment, listening to the clients’ skiing and snowboarding goals and considering the conditions

  • Manage and maintain accurate rental records, including ensuring that all of the appropriate Rental Forms and Liability Waivers are completed

  • Manage Rental and Appointment Software, including training, updates and correspondence with software vendors

  • Manage Season, Daily and Weekly Rentals, including tracking due dates and assessing late fees 

  • Work with Shop Manager to ensure that rentals and demos are safe, clean and well-maintained and to replace/repair equipment as necessary

  • Keep an accurate and updated inventory of all rental and demo equipment and work with Buyer to order new rental equipment as needed


Service Shop Management

  • Work with Shop Manager to hire, train and mentor shop technicians 

  • Work with Shop Manager to ensure that shop technicians have completed requisite certifications 

  • Work with Shop Manager to manage check-in and check-out for services such as tunes, mounts, and repairs

  • Work with Shop Manager to ensure that all necessary paperwork and liability release forms for shop work are completed as required

  • Work with Shop Manager to ensure that shop turn around times are communicated clearly to customers and that work is completed in a timely manner

  • Work with Shop Manager to ensure that shop pricing is accurate and clearly communicated to customers

Boot Fitting

  • Provide exceptional boot fitting services, including custom foot bed fabrication, boot shell modifications, liner modifications and stance alignment 

  • Train and mentor additional Boot Fitters 

  • Manage Boot Fitting appointments calendar to ensure that all services are completed correctly and in a timely manner

  • Work with Buyer to ensure that appropriate Boot Fitting materials, tools and accessories are in stock

Compensation
- 30-40 hours a week
- Hourly wage depends on experience

Full-Time Ski / Rental Technician

Summary

The focus of this position is working with and through others, building and maintaining relationships, and working closely and accurately within established guidelines. There is a need for an effective communicator, someone who is able to stimulate and motivate others while being aware of and responsive to their needs and concerns. There will be many different people to meet and work with. The person in this position must be friendly and genuinely interested in the business, agenda, and needs of others, including the company, its management, the team, the company's customers, or all of the above. A persuasive, teaching style of communication is required to communicate the company's policies, programs, and systems. A faster-than-average pace will be the norm for this position. Detail work is a major focus of the job, and those details need to be handled quickly, correctly, and efficiently. This portion of the work will often focus on relationships with others; correct handling of details dealing with others is necessary to maintain and grow relationships. If the job involves managing others, following up carefully, closely, and cheerfully is required to ensure both correct work and maintenance of the relationships. Necessary corrections must be made in a constructive, supportive manner. As time is usually a factor, the work must be done on time, as well as correctly. In general, this is a position where guidelines, structure, and established policies must be followed fairly closely, while working with and for others.

Service Shop Duties

  • Under supervision of the Shop Manager, perform ski and snowboard services
  • Advise customers on options and pricing for service(s), including what can and cannot be repaired
  • Assist customers with check-in and check-out for services such as tunes, mounts, and repairs
  • Ensure that all necessary paperwork and liability release forms for shop work are completed as required
  • Clearly communicate shop turn around times and pricing to customers
  • Keep the service shop clean and well organized
  • Answer the shop phone and answer customer questions or use the website, ask coworkers or use other store resources to find answers

    Rental Shop Duties
  • Advise customers on appropriate rental equipment, listening to the clients’ skiing and snowboarding goals and considering the conditions

  • Fit and adjust rental and demo equipment to suit the needs of customers

  • Maintain accurate rental records, including ensuring that all of the appropriate Rental Forms and Liability Waivers are completed

  • Assist Customers with Rental and Appointment Software systems used at Mountain to Sound Outfitters

  • Under supervision of the Shop Manager, ensure that rentals and demos are safe, clean and well-maintained

  • Ensure that the rental shop is clean and well organized

Additional Duties

  • Under supervision of the Store Manager, check in new inventory as it arrives, including checking off each item on the packing slip, printing tags, tagging items, uploading packing slip, breaking down and recycling packaging and troubleshooting issues with missing inventory

  • Under supervision of the Store Manager, organize new inventory in backstock areas and/or merchandise in store

  • Answer the store phone and respond to customer questions by using the website, asking coworkers or using other store resources to find answers

  • Process cash and credit card sales using POS system, including recording customer contact information, providing receipts and informing customers about store return policies

  • Assist with bi-annual store inventory

Compensation

- 30-40 hours a week

  • Proactively grow knowledge about store inventory, including independent research, attending clinics, studying catalogs and attending trainings.
  • Ensure that customers have a fun and memorable shopping experience by providing them with product knowledge, options, and accessories Answer the store phone and respond to customer questions by using the website, asking coworkers or using other store resources to find answers.
  • Process cash and credit card sales using POS system, including recording customer contact information, providing receipts and informing customers about store return policies Process special order requests, including product creation, collecting money, and recording steps taken in our Special Order book.
  • Monitor customer trends and requests and suggest new products to Buyer(s) and Store Manager.  
  • Check in new inventory as it arrives, including checking off each item on the packing slip, printing tags, tagging items, uploading packing slip, breaking down and recycling packaging and troubleshooting issues with missing inventory  
  • Organize new inventory in backstock areas and/or merchandise in store. 
  • Assist with processing of online orders, including customer correspondence and packaging and mailing products Assist with bi-annual store inventory and additional batch inventories as needed.
