If you have experience in retail sales, love snow sports, the Puget Sound, the Cascades and engaging with customers on a regular basis, this is the position for you!
Ensure that customers have a fun and memorable shopping experience by providing them with product knowledge, options, and accessories
Hire, train and mentor Retail Sales Associates in sales strategies, with particular focus on product knowledge and customer experience
Operate in a Sales Lead capacity while working the sales floor
Create, monitor, and execute winter sales training programs for incoming staff as well as continuing education programs for existing staff
Maintain constant communication with management and staff to ensure proper operations of the sales department
Create and utilize key sales tools and metrics to measure team results and hold the team accountable to established goals and objectives
Monitor customer trends and requests and work with Buyer to fill gaps in inventory, process special orders, and bring in new products
Hire, train and mentor rental staff
Ensure that rental staff are fully trained in fitting and adjusting rental and demo equipment to suit the needs of customers
Ensure that rental staff can advise on appropriate rental equipment, listening to the clients’ skiing and snowboarding goals and considering the conditions
Manage and maintain accurate rental records, including ensuring that all of the appropriate Rental Forms and Liability Waivers are completed
Manage Rental and Appointment Software, including training, updates and correspondence with software vendors
Manage Season, Daily and Weekly Rentals, including tracking due dates and assessing late fees
Work with Shop Manager to ensure that rentals and demos are safe, clean and well-maintained and to replace/repair equipment as necessary
Keep an accurate and updated inventory of all rental and demo equipment and work with Buyer to order new rental equipment as needed
Service Shop Management
Work with Shop Manager to hire, train and mentor shop technicians
Work with Shop Manager to ensure that shop technicians have completed requisite certifications
Work with Shop Manager to manage check-in and check-out for services such as tunes, mounts, and repairs
Work with Shop Manager to ensure that all necessary paperwork and liability release forms for shop work are completed as required
Work with Shop Manager to ensure that shop turn around times are communicated clearly to customers and that work is completed in a timely manner
Work with Shop Manager to ensure that shop pricing is accurate and clearly communicated to customers
Provide exceptional boot fitting services, including custom foot bed fabrication, boot shell modifications, liner modifications and stance alignment
Train and mentor additional Boot Fitters
Manage Boot Fitting appointments calendar to ensure that all services are completed correctly and in a timely manner
Work with Buyer to ensure that appropriate Boot Fitting materials, tools and accessories are in stock
- 30-40 hours a week
- Hourly wage depends on experience

Our staff members provide residents and visitors with expert knowledge of sea kayaking, stand up paddle boarding, skiing, and snowboarding. Under supervision of the AGM, check in new inventory as it arrives, including checking off each item on the packing slip, printing tags, tagging items, uploading packing slip, breaking down and recycling packaging and troubleshooting issues with missing inventory
Assist with organizing new inventory in backstock areas and/or
merchandise in store
Assist with processing of online orders, including customer correspondence and packaging and mailing products
Assist with bi-annual store inventory and additional batch inventories as needed
Assist management with occasional office work including filing, mail sorting, data entry as needed
Process online orders (website and eBay), including picking inventory, printing shipping labels, mailing
-1-3 years of experience in retail and/or sales Must be available on weekends
- Must be extremely organized with high attention to detail
- Passion or interest in Northwest paddle sports/snow sports
- Experience with Quickbooks/Office/Excel

- Passionate about an inclusive outdoors and able to work with others without discrimination
- Excellent technical abilities. A digital native able to learn web platforms quickly and troubleshoot issues independently

Our guides provide an additional set of eyes on the Sound looking over its well-being for preventable ecological harm. We utilize the best management practices and focus on leaving the smallest possible ecological footprint when operating tours.
Our tours are a forum where the Puget Sound community and tourists alike can discuss and learn about the history and ecosystems
of the Sound.
Our guides offer meaningful commentary with the goal of having every paddler leave with a greater understanding and appreciation of this unique corner of the world.
You will be representing Alki Kayak Tours in a profession manner at all times. In order to fill this position you must truly love working with people and be passionate about kayaking, and educating our guests about our local region. You will be a part of our team of guides who guide at least 3 tours each day with as many as 50 guests.
The sea kayak guide position includes managing and taking care of equipment, communicating with other staff and clients, and setting up and putting away all gear for your tour. This involves cleaning all kayaks, PFDs and Paddles. You will be required to plan ahead, work hard, and be detail oriented in taking care of clients and equipment.
You are expected to be responsible to do whatever is necessary to get your tour ready including pulling out all the kayaks, paddles, PFDs, and safety gear. We seek applicants who show us they will go above and beyond, taking the initiative to do what is needed to be done without being asked. No kayak guiding experience in required for this position, as all selected candidates will go through our comprehensive, in-house training, but you must be proficient in the sport.
You will be spending multiple hours a day in the sun and in the water, observing weather, winds, and tides to ensure clients are staying safe and helping them with paddle technique and maneuvers. Explicit details regarding our tour procedures will be provided to you in your employment packet upon hiring.
Must be at least 18 Years of age
Cell phone and reliable transportation
Current First Aid and CPR (or willingness to get certified if hired)
Possess knowledge of sea kayaks and ability to lead a group on a 3 hour tour
Ability to lift 65 pounds
Able to provide a safe tour and class environment and able to perform open water rescues
Know or be able to learn local, human, and natural history of Alki
Reliable and punctual team player
Must be able to attend mandatory training Saturday, April 9th, 2022
